My name is Sophie and I was asked by The Heartlands Hospital to do an interview for cervical Cancer Prevention Week. I wanted to send it to you guys at the Cancer Support Centre as you have helped me out immensely throughout my journey! I am so thankful that my Macmillan nurse gave me your leaflet when I was first diagnosed.
My mom and I had some lovely complementary therapies which really helped with my physical pain and relaxation. This lead me to do the Reiki level 1 course myself at the Centre and still comforts me every day. I enjoyed so much the use of your library too with lots of interesting topics. I discovered a crystal book that I was fascinated by (I never new anything about crystals before this) Which lead me to buying my first set of crystals and whilst recovering I found it therapeutic to play around and make jewellery with them. With help from the Princes Trust, I now run my own business ‘High Vibe Designs’ making and selling crystal healing jewellery and I genuinely believe it is thanks to the Support Centre!
The Support Centre has helped me to become aware of my own body and take control of my physical and mental health and general wellbeing. After attending your yoga, meditation and relaxation classes this is now a huge part of my daily life and I am going to train to be yoga instructor this year too :) I cannot express enough how highly I think our your charity and how grateful I am to be a part of it!
My dad raised nearly £1000 last year for the Centre by running the half marathon and I wish to do the same for you guys in some way in the future.
Much appreciation and best wishes,
