Ball

On Saturday 30th January we celebrated a wonderful evening of masquerade fun at Aston Wood Golf Club in aid of the Cancer Support Centre in Sutton Coldfield.

The evening was a huge success, with over 130 guests in attendance. We were also joined by two special guests (our Venetian mannequins!). The night was full of fun, laughter and fundraising.

Special thanks goes to the musicians; Rebecca Kelly (local violinist and singer) and local band First Request as well as Aston Wood for all their support and fantastic hospitality. Mavis Cunningham who set up the centre 15 years ago was able to give the guests a great insight into the fantastic work being undertaken at the centre and why fundraising events like the ball are so important to the future of the centre.

We were extremely lucky to collect a range of brilliant raffle and auction prizes, with all items being donated by local businesses. We were in slight shock the following morning to discover that the silent auction had raised an overwhelming £2000 alone. As it currently stands we have raised circa £5000, a phenomenal feat for one evening. So the biggest thanks goes to all the wonderful guests who attended and who were so generous in their donations and bids. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

For anyone who was unable to attend but would like to make a donation towards the centre they can do so via my just giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/Chloe-Jones16. I am running the Edinburgh marathon on 30th May to raise money for the CSC.

Patricia Brighton, Fundraising Trustee of The Cancer Support Centre said, we would like to say a huge thank you to Chloe and friends for organising such an amazing event and for all the generosity of everyone that attended the evening. The money raised, £5,000 is a phenomenal amount to raise and will be used to provide our support and services to anyone in the local community that has been diagnosed with cancer.
