Fundraising

Fundraising is just one of the many ways in which we reach our annual target of £175,000.

It could be events run by us or by our supporters or sponsored activities that people do – running, walking, jumping out of planes, cycling – Whatever it is they are all amazing and we rely on them to help us to raise funds so we can support those affected by cancer.

There is always something going on, so be sure to take a look at just some of our upcoming events.

Travel Insurance

Getting Travel Insurance when you have a diagnosis, or have had one, can mean that getting travel insurance at a reasonable cost can be very challenging.  Our clients have shared two online companies who have really helped them out, so we are sharing them here.  Talk to them and see if they can give you a good price.

We have four tips for you :

  1. Ensure that you give them ALL the details because if you don’t, and something happens, it can void the insurance policy totally.
  2. Check the limits and amounts put on any insurance and read the small print.
  3. Increasing the excess can sometimes reduce the cost, but be sure that you are happy and able to cover that cost should you need to.
  4. If you are travelling with others include them on the same policy then, if any of you have to cancel for any reason, they are included

Louise will make a donation for every holiday booked !

The amazing Louise Patrick from Not just Travel has made an offer to help, and support all of us, to book our holidays, and she will make a donation to the Cancer Support Centre as a thank you. Find out more here: https://notjustholidays.com/cancersupportcentre

We all enjoy a holiday, but sometimes the time taken to search for the right place, look at all the reviews and then worry whether it is the right place makes it an anxious time leading up to it.

Louise will be able to match most online offers you find, so you have nothing to lose by having a chat, so give her a call! You’ll be supporting The Centre with every booking.

As a bonus, if you don’t know where you want to go, she will be able to make recommendations, and ensure that you get the right hotel for you. ❤

You can contact Louise on 07947 635902 or louise.patrick@notjusttravel.com.

To whet your fundraising appetite, take a look at our A to Z of fundraising ideas:

A – How about hosting an ‘Auction’ or ‘Afternoon tea’… better still, why not have both?

B – Who doesn’t love a game of ‘Bingo’? Perhaps you’d prefer to get your dancing shoes out and jig along at a ‘Barn dance’? Not for the feint hearted, anyone for ‘Bungee’?

C – Cakes always go down a treat, and calories don’t count when it’s for charity!

D – Let’s play ‘Darts’ or maybe you’d prefer to host a ‘Dinner party’?

E – Hit the dance floor and make some moves as everyone loves an ‘Eighties night’

F – ‘Five a side football’ – sure to get the competitive footie fans taking part!

G – Whether you’re looking to shed a few pounds or give up coffee or cigarettes, why not donate what you would have spent in a week on them when you ‘Give something up’

H – Why not simply donate an ‘Hour of your pay’ to The Cancer Support Centre?

I – Mamma Mia… why not hold an ‘Italian evening’ and enjoy pizza and pasta galore!

J – Everyone needs to have a sort out, so what better way to raise fund than by holding a ‘Jumble sale’

K – Just because the X Factor is no longer on TV, doesn’t mean you can’t have a ‘Karaoke night’!

L – Perfect for sharing with your female friends, why not organise a ‘Ladies who lunch’ get together?

M – “Who dunnit?” Ideal for any wannabe detectives, what about a ‘Murder mystery night’?

N – Ask a local school to hold a ‘Non-uniform day’… leave the blazer at home and pay £1.00 to wear your own clothes for the day!

O – Better in warmer weather, when not organise an ‘Open gardens’ event?

P – As the cooler nights draw in, why not see if you can hold a ‘Pub games night’ at your favourite local?

Q – With not many options to choose from, Q had to be a ‘Quiz’!

R – Fairly easy to organise, everyone is always happy to buy a strip of ‘Raffle’ tickets!

S – Perfect for ‘potty mouths’ how about a ‘Sponsored silence’ or a ‘Swear box’?

T – Everyone loves the classics and it doesn’t get more traditional than a ‘Tombola’!

U – Get sponsored to wear your ‘Underwear’ on top of your clothes for a day!

V – Eat heathier, if just for one night with a ‘Vegetarian or Vegan evening’

W – ‘Wine tasting’ always goes down well, if a little too well… just remember the paracetamol the next morning!

X – Sing up a storm with your own ‘X-Factor evening’.

Y – Get sponsored to say ‘Yes’ to everything for a day! The only question is will you crack under pressure and say no?

Z – Keep fit whilst raising money! Get a local gym or sports centre involved and have a ‘Zumba-thon’.

No matter how much free time you have, if would like to help, then please do get in touch.
