Volunteering with us

We rely on Volunteers to help with the provision of services for our clients, for fundraising to ensure that we can continue to operate the Charity, and for many other aspects of running the Charity.” – Chair of Trustees, Trevor Saadi

We simply could not operate without our volunteers and we are always looking for new volunteers, who are passionate, enthusiastic and organised so if this sounds of interest, be sure to get in touch.

What do volunteers do?

The list of things that volunteers do for us is almost endless. If you love meeting people, then a meet and greet role or helping at events might suit you. If you like doing admin, we’ve got plenty of that to do! Maybe your talent is gardening, baking cakes or even selling on eBay – whatever you can offer us, we can find a good use for your talents.

How much time do volunteers have to commit to?

This is entirely up to the individual volunteers; it varies a lot. We have volunteers that are here every week and we have volunteers that we can call on when we have events. We don’t ask for a big time commitment.

Why do people choose to volunteer with you?

People volunteer with us for lots of reasons, some of them have used our services or someone they know has and they want to express their gratitude by helping us out. Some people want to contribute to their local community or to simply feel useful.

“I feel useful and valued. I have met and made some lovely friends, both clients and volunteers.” – Jayne, volunteer.

We are hugely grateful to all our volunteers, but volunteering is not a one-way street. There are benefits to the volunteers as well:

  1. Mental Health. Helping others makes people feel happier and provides a sense of purpose.
  2. Confidence. If your confidence has been knocked, for example by illness or by having extended periods off work or not being able to do whatever you normally do, then volunteering can help you get some of that confidence back at your own pace.
  3. Community. We all like to feel part of something, volunteering can connect you to your community and can also help you create new friendships.

We are fortunate to have a fabulous team of volunteers here at the Centre, if you think you might like to become one of them, please get in touch!
